Description
Location. The Mandarin Oriental is a Neo Renaissance property located in the historical centre of Munich, Germany, 200 metres from the exclusive shopping of Maximilianstrasse, and 400 metres from Marienplatz underground station and the city centre. Hotel Features. The hotel lobby is dominated by a grand marble staircase, and is decorated in bold terracotta tones. Open during the summer months, the hotel's rooftop terrace features a heated pool and poolside bar, and offers 360 degree views of the city. Fitness equipment is available on the second floor and guests are entitled to complimentary use of the nearby Antura Health and Beauty Centre. Multilingual staff can arrange airport transfers, and valet parking (surcharge) is available.
The Michelin starred Mark's Restaurant overlooks the hotel lobby and is characterised by cherry wood furniture with blue and ivory toned upholstery. The Mandarin Oriental Bar has lavender and terracotta furnishings and offers light snacks, cocktails, and live piano music until late. The 360 degree views attract guests to the poolside rooftop bar, which is open from May to October.
Wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel and guests are entitled to complimentary use of the Mandarin Oriental's business centre facilities, including laptops and fax machines.
During the summer months, yoga sessions are run on the hotel's rooftop terrace.
Guestrooms. Wooden floors and custom designed bed linens characterise the Mandarin Oriental's 73 air conditioned guestrooms. All feature Bang and Olufsen televisions, complimentary minibars, and complimentary fruit on arrival. Marble bathrooms feature separate bathtubs and showers, flatscreen televisions, and Aromatherapy Associates toiletries. Junior suites have separate sitting areas.

DirectionsFrom Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC): Distance to the Mandarin Oriental Munich is 30 kilometres, approximately 35 minutes' drive.
Getting there. The airport's train station is located between the two terminals on the basement level. The S8 and S1 S Bahn trains leave every 20 minutes for Munich's main train station (Hauptbahnhof). Journey time is about 45 minutes, and single tickets cost 8.80 EUR. Tickets must be validated prior to travelling. The Lufthansa Airport bus runs to the Hauptbahnhof every 20 minutes, and the single fare is 9.50 EUR. Taxis to the city centre cost around 55 EUR 65 EUR. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. Much of Munich's city centre is pedestrianised and best explored on foot. The city's integrated public transport system includes buses, trams, S Bahn commuter trains, and U Bahn underground trains. Tickets cover all modes of public transport. Taxis wait at ranks around the city, but can be expensive. Trains run from the Hauptbahnhof to other German towns and the Bavarian countryside.
Driving directions. From Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport, follow the A9 Richtung in the direction of Munich. At the end of the road, turn right onto Schenkendorfstrasse. Take a right onto Leopoldstrasse Ludwicgstrasse. Turn left onto Von der Tann Strasse and carry straight on until you reach Thomas Wimmer Ring. Turn right onto Hildegardstrasse. Turn left onto Neuturmstrasse.
