Description
Location. Set in a former royal guesthouse, the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munchen is on the upmarket Maximilianstrasse shopping boulevard in central Munich, Germany. Opposite the Schauspiel theatre, the 19th century hotel is 500 metres from the National Theatre and English Garden.
Hotel Features. Furnished with marble and dark wood, the salon style lobby reflects the history of the 1858 built hotel with mosaic glass roof portraying the four seasons, and deep red and gold fabrics.
Marble, wood and chrome create a contemporary feel in Restaurant Vue Maximilian, serving buffet breakfast, and international and Bavarian specialities for lunch and dinner. The Lobby offers English afternoon tea, champagne and canapes. Vier Jahreszeiten Bar has live piano music and dark wood furniture, and serves drinks and snacks.
The hotel houses a 24 hour business centre and 10 conference rooms, including a ballroom for up to 400 people and a wood panelled smoking lounge. Wireless Internet access is available.
Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten's rooftop, indoor pool has a sun terrace affording views over Munich and a bar which serves snacks and cocktails. The health club has a fitness room, sauna and solarium. Guests can book massages and treatments here, or at the beauty salon.
Guestrooms. The Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munchen's air conditioned guestrooms overlook Maximilianstrasse or one of three courtyards. Decorated in warm golds and reds with handmade furniture, rooms offer high speed Internet connections (surcharge), cable television, safes and minibars. The marble floored bathrooms have bath/shower combinations, bathrobes and slippers.
Expert Tip. The hotel is next to Maximilianhofe arcade, where the royal stables once stood. The arcade now houses designer boutiques.

Getting there. The airport's train station is located between the two terminals on the basement level. The S8 and S1 S Bahn trains leave every 20 minutes for Munich's main train station (Hauptbahnhof). Journey time is about 45 minutes, and single tickets cost 8.80 EUR. Tickets must be validated prior to travelling. The Lufthansa Airport bus runs to the Hauptbahnhof every 20 minutes, and the single fare is 9.50 EUR. Taxis to the city centre cost around 55 EUR 65 EUR. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. Situated in central Munich, the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munchen is 500 metres from the English Garden. Much of Munich's city centre is pedestrianised and best explored on foot. The city's integrated public transport system includes buses, trams, S Bahn commuter trains, and U Bahn underground trains. The closest S and U Bahn station to the hotel is Marienplatz. Tickets cover all modes of public transport. Taxis wait at ranks around the city, but can be expensive. Trains run from the Hauptbahnhof to other German towns and the Bavarian countryside.
